72 foot 80-20 Meter Heavy Duty Vertical
$1350.00 Plus $100.00 shipping

In the above picture is the 72 foot vertical tilt over base and part of the radiator (at right).
At left is a full scale computer 3D model of our 41-46 foot vertical tilt base.
The unit at left will put into perspective the size of the 72 foot antenna.
We will post more pictures soon.

Specifications:

Overall height when fully extended - 72 feet (height of vertical radiating element)

Diameters of vertical radiating element tubing-
First 36' is 3" dia. x .125" wall (1/8")
Then tapers (with 1/8" wall tubing) to
2.75" dia., to 2.50",to 2.25", to 2.00"
to 1.75", all 2 feet in length, one foot
nested and one foot exposed. Remaining
31' is 1.50" OD x .058" wall. First 12' of
the last 31' is double walled to .116".

Please Note: The actual sections are 6 feet
coupled with the next smaller size tubing,
the coupler is 18" long. In other words the
antenna is shipped in 6 foot lengths except
for the 1/8" wall taper sections which are
2 feet in length. Couplers within the 6'
sections are all 18".

Tilt base dimensions-
Back plate- 1" thick x 6" wide x 36" high aluminum
Tilt Arm- 1" thick x 6" wide x 36" high aluminum
Black CNC machined Acetal (Delrin) UV stablized
clamps 4 1/8" deep x 2" high x 6" wide
1/2"dia. Grade 5 bolts and nylon insert lock nuts
used through clamps for ultra rigid assembly.
There are 4 clamps total and each clamp is topped with
a 3/8" thick x 2" wide x 6" long aluminum plate.
Requires a nominal 3" dia. x .25" wall pipe x 4' long
set in concrete for mounting to the base. The concrete
base should be approx. 18" square.
Safety bolts (1/2" dia.) pass through tilt arm to
draw arm into back plate.
Tilt Arm pivot bolt-3/4" dia. grade 8

Antenna Frequency range-
160 Meters, 80/75,60,40 and
20 meters. 20 meter take off angle is
34 degrees. Not recommended for use
on 30 meters as take off angle is very high.

Description:

Very ruggedly constructed vertical antenna (quarter wave on 80/75 Meters). This is a low angle radiator which will provide excellent DX performance. Lower section consists of 1/8" wall heavy tubing for a stiff and rigid base section and lighter tubing on the upper sections to reduce wind load and weight. Antenna is pretty much self supporting but we recommend guying (guying clamp designed just for that purpose is also available) for very high wind environments . The rugged radiating element sits on similiarly designed tilt over base. This base provides quick and smooth raising and lowering and has features like a stop block to make lining up the holes in the tilt arm very easy without having to line them up by eye. The base is equipped with 4 U bolts of 1/2" dia. legs and our own machined V saddle clamps so that if a mounting pipe of slightly greater or less than 3" dia. is used the clamps will still exert all their force. You can use a smaller dia. pipe but we do not recommend smaller than 3".

About feeding this type of antenna: A resonant antenna as this one should be fed using 50 ohm coaxial cable for operation on the 80/75 meter band and an antenna tuning unit (ATU) at the base of the antenna for multiband operation on 160,80,60,40 and 20 meters. The ATU will tune out any reactance at the feed point and present a 50 ohm impedance to the coax (also 50 ohm).
